We've noticed a fever-pitch in diagnoses of a crisis in US higher education in the media and on the blogs over the past months.
It's somewhat hard to take such talk seriously, when one compares the nightmare visions depicted with the reality on the ground.
The most recent evidence for the reality: 13 of the top 20 universities on the QS world rankings are located in the United States. (And not one of them has abolished tenure yet.)
